    Earth curls up against Jupiter. He used to be intimidated by the larger planet. He hung out with the outer planets and loomed over the smaller inner ones. The asteriods harassed everyone but one day, when Earth was curled up and everything hurt and he could feel everything that was part of him dying, Jupiter scooped him up. He whispered it will be ok from now on. As Earth aged, Jupter remained his protector. It took awhile for Earth to understand what that even meant.

   Jupiter kisses like he does everything, with authority and strength but he was willing to bend and adapt to Earth’s small hands. It is pressed close together, wrapped up in Jupiter, that Earth finds the faint scars. Jupiter heals fast but there are so many of them, peppering his shoulders and back. Earth’s breath catches in his throat and he makes Jupter turn around, even as he laughs and says Earth is being a worrywart, all that life was rubbing off on him. Earth touches and kisses each scar. He asks against Jupiter’s skin if this was all for him and Jupiter whispers back of course, Jupiter turns back to face Earth again, and cups his face, tilting him up for a soft kiss, I promised.
